A security guard got a little too carried away by Bollywood sagas and kidnapped a boy from Chunabhatti to raise as his own son so he would grow up and avenge the humiliation meted out to the former by his colleagues.

Instead, the guard learned the valuable lesson of never applying a film script to real life. He was caught on CCTV footage at Chunabhatti railway station with the kidnapped child and arrested a month later.

The suspect has been identified as Kamlesh Chauhan, 19, a resident of Igatpuri, Nashik. According to Sadanand Date, joint commissioner of police, crime, an 8-year old boy was kidnapped from Chunabhatti on June 14. CCTV footage revealed that the suspect had taken a train from Chunabhatti railway station with the boy. A complaint was then lodged with the Chunabhatti police.

"Three days later, the boy was found safe in a park in Chunabhatti. On the basis of information provided by the boy and from the images procured from CCTV footage, the police learned that the kidnapper was a private security guard, as he was seen wearing a guard's uniform in the footage," said senior inspector Shripad Kale.

The crime branch's Chembur unit initiated a probe. They noticed that the suspect in the CCTV footage had a limp used to limp. "We apprehended the suspect from Igatpuri on Tuesday. He works as a private security guard and his colleagues used to harass him. He planned to kidnap a boy from Mumbai, raise him and prepare him to teach his colleagues a lesson once he grow up. However, he later abandoned the child and went back to Igatpuri. He said he got this idea from movies," said another police officer.
