The VP Road police on Saturday arrested a 48-year-old man and his 21-year-old son, for allegedly cheating around 16 dealers dealing with computer parts over crores of rupees in the last few years. In order to gain trust of the victims, the duo used to claim that they have an office that deals with computer supply parts in the Bombay Stock Exchange. The accused would first place their order with the dealers and once the delivery was made they would go into hiding.

The arrested persons have been identified as Rajesh Nisar, a Malad resident and his son Purav. According to the police, in November 2011, Nisar had contacted Kamothe resident complainant Santosh Pillai, a computer parts dealer, after getting his number from an advertisement.

"Nisar had placed an order of 111 monitors and CPUs with Pillai. Nisar had also introduced his wife, Smita to Pillai. Smita had told Pillai that the payment of over Rs4 lakh of the order will be made after the delivery. Once the delivery was made, Nisar avoided Pillai's calls," said an officer from the VP Road police station.

He added that, when Pillai contacted Smita, the latter refused to know any Rajesh Nisar. On visiting BSE, Pillai learnt that Nisar had no such office there. Pillai then lodged a complaint.

"Nisar and Purav, were recently arrested by the Malabar Hill police in a cheating case and were later sent to judicial custody. We have taken over their custody in our case. Our investigation has revealed that Nisar had allegedly duped around 16 people in the last few years. Three of these cases are registered with VP Road police. In nine cases, different courts have issued non-bailable warrants against Nisar. We are also on the lookout for Smita," said an officer.
