Father of the wine shop owner allegedly extorted by Police Inspector Anand Bhoir has written to Mumbai Police Commissioner Subodh Jaiswal asking Bhoir's dismissal from service. In the letter, the man also claimed that Bhoir had threatened to kill him and that if anything happens to him, Bhoir should be held responsible for it.

On January 1, Maharashtra Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officials had arrested Bhoir while he had allegedly accepted a bribe of Rs 22 lakh from one Bhavesh Patel. Bhavesh was present in Bhoir's vehicle at the time ACB officials had laid the trap.

Bhoir had claimed that Bhavesh's brother was wanted in a Prohibition Act case being probed by the crime branch and had demanded Rs 25 lakh from Bhavesh. The amount was later lowered down to Rs 22 lakh. Bhavesh's father Ashok Patel, president of The Fort Merchants Welfare Association, on Friday, wrote a letter to Jaiswal. "After getting trapped, Bhoir had told my son that what he had done (by approaching ACB) was not right. Bhoir issued a threat to Bhavesh that after he would come out, he would see Bhavesh and his father. We have a threat to our lives from this officer and if anything happens to my family, Bhoir should be held responsible for it," Patel's letter stated.

Apart from requesting for Bhoir's dismissal from service, in his letter, Patel has also alleged that BhoirS disproportionate assets need to be probed.
