The Dombivli police registered a rape case against the father and brother of an 18-year-old girl on Friday, and the culprits were arrested on Friday night, and will be produced in a Kalyan court on Saturday.
According to the police, Mahesh Pasat (50), a photographer by profession, and his son, Hardik Pasat, (20), work in a watch shop at Dadar and live at Phadke road, Dombivli east. The girl claims that her father had been raping her for the last two years, and the brother had been raping her for the last two months. Mahesh divorced his wife two years ago. At 8pm on Friday night, the girl was found crying by her friend near Dombivli police station. When the friend was told what had been happening to the girl, she took the victim to her mother, a social worker. The social worker helped the victim file a complaint at the police station.
“They used to rape the girl in their own home,” said Vilas Jadhav, the senior police inspector at Dombivli Police station. “The neighbours were unaware of what was going on. The father had threatened the girl not to talk about her ordeal to anyone outside. The girl studied till SSC level, and has been living at home for the last two years. When we interrogated the victims brother, he told us that he too had raped his sister on a couple of occasions.” The Dombivli police had arrested both the culprits and booked them under section 376 (Punishment for rape), 34 (Acts done by several persons in furtherance of common intention) and 506 (Punishment for criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code.
