Pointing to complaints about malpractices in toll collection, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis asked officials to ensure transparency in toll collection.
Speaking at a meeting with senior National Highways Authority of India and state officials on Monday, where he reviewed the development of national and state highways, Fadnavis pointed to complaints about bogus receipts being given to motorists at toll nakas.
He stressed that training for employees posted at toll nakas was essential and that they needed to be taught how to behave politely with people. Fadnavis also called for faster development of roads and asked officials to take a review of toll projects in the state and ensure transparency in toll collection.
Fadnavis, who was speaking at a function to launch the development of an international standard multipurpose port terminal and logistics infrastructure project at Karanja in Uran, said permissions relating to industries and investment would be fast-tracked. The state government has decided to reduce the number of permissions required for these projects and set up an e-platform for the purpose. A secretary-level committee has also been established for faster permissions.
Fadnavis said to meet the 'Make in Maharashtra' objective, investment in ports, railways and roads, among other sectors was essential.
