Mumbai Police on Monday filed its reply opposing the bail application filed by 35-year-old corporate lawyer Janhavi Gadkar who is accused of mowing down two persons here on June 10 under the influence of alcohol.

Gadkar had filed her bail application in sessions court last week after the Kurla Metropolitan Magistrate court rejected her bail application twice.

Police said that the accident caused by her was not the first incident and she is likely to repeat the offence if released on bail.

According to police, they had recorded the statement of a person who said he was hit by the car that was being driven by Gadkar, although the case was later settled.

The court is likely to hear the application tomorrow. In the early hours of June 10, an Audi driven by Gadkar rammed a taxi, resulting in the death of two persons including the taxi driver on the Eastern Freeway here.
The deceased were identified as Mohammed Abdul Sayyad (55) and Mohammed Salim Sabuwala (50).
