Drowning case: Father holds BMC responsible

After more than five days, the Dindoshi police have registered an FIR against unknown persons in the three-year-old Divyansh's drowning case. The three-year-old fell into an open gutter at Malad East on last Wednesday night. However, still, the police were unable to trace him.

The police filed the FIR after the kid's father approached the police on Monday and told them that his son died due to the negligence of the BMC. He has also demanded a FIR against the BMC officers. "We have registered a case against an unknown person under section IPC 304 A (Causing death by negligence). We have not been able to trace Divyansh," said DCP Vinay Rathod.

Divyansh's rescue operation is still on and BMC, Police and Fire brigade officers are jointly searching him for the last five days. Sources said Police are also in the process to record BMC officials statement who are part of this case.

Divyansh's father Suraj said, "BMC is responsible for my child's death. We had filed a complaint about the open drainage however, civic body never reacted. My complaint is against every worker of BMC never bothered to cover the drain, " added Singh.
