Thousands of Compressed Natural Gas(CNG) vehicle owners are relieved as the city is all set to get its first CNG gas station.

The Mahanagar gas will be opening the pump by March at Sagaon, Dombivali East near Pimpleshwar temple. This move will make the autodrivers and residents happy, who had to visit Mahape, Ambernath and Bhiwandi to refill their vehicles.

Three proposals were sent for clearance, of which one has been approved following the demand of the various auto unions from Dombivli.

While Kalyan has a CNG gas station, auto drivers had to suffer due to high handedness of local autodrivers and alleged trouble from the traffic officials near Mahape. Many CNG vehicle owners had to travel thrice a week to refill the gas at far away places away from Dombivali.

"We had sent three proposals for clearances, from which we got the permissions for starting up the gas station at Sagaon in Dombivali. Our prime aim is to provide best service to the residents," said Pradeep Rane, from Mahanagar gas.

Ashok Sawant, Rickshaw Chalak Malak Sanghatna, said, "It is a good news for us as we have to refill gas from far off places and this will help us earn more as CNG is cheaper than petrol."

Pranali Raote, a Dombivli resident, who has a CNG and petrol vehicle, said, "It will benefit us as we spend more on petrol and CNG would be the best option, if it is coming up near our locality. However, more pumps should come up, so that the we don't have to wait in long queues."

"The hassle of going to Bhiwandi to refill gas in the vehicle will no longer be there as it becomes tiring every week, to travel far. More gas stations should come up, so that many people will get the services and fuel easily," said Ashish Khavanekar, a resident of Dombivli.
