Bhuskute walks 35kms everyday and has walked through AP, Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan. If he completes this walkathon on the notified date, it will be his second record.
For 64-year-old Vidyadhar Bhuskute, life is all about walking across India, experiencing the diversity and issues affecting our country. To add to it, his footprints, unknowingly, are creating new records.
On October 26, 2015, Bhuskute, a resident of Milapnagar, Dombivli undertook his 4000km walk from Kithiboo, Arunachal Pradesh (AP). Speaking to dna from Udaipur, Rajasthan on February 5, he had already knocked off 3300km. He will reach Porbunder, Gujarat on 27 of this month, thus, completing this journey across India.

"I am not attempting any world record, it just keeps happening," says Bhuskute adding, "My aim is to promote peace, humanity, environmental balance, education and raise awareness about other issues."
In 2014, Bhuskute made a record as he walked from Kashmir to Kanyakumari in 125 days. Hebegan on October 16, 2013 from Srinagar, Kashmir and reached Kanyakumari on March 25, 2014. This feat of got him registered in Limca book of records.
Talking about his inspiration, Bhuskute says, "My father Vithal and mother Sindhu were freedom fighters. Even my wife Dr Vrinda is involved in social work. Coming from such a household, I wanted to do something for the society."
He adds, "I thought of taking up these walks as a means to know my country as well as to bring people together."
Bhuskute's love for walking existed since childhood as he would walk 5kms everyday. When he grew up, Bhuskute would walk from Dombivli to Vangni, CBD Belapur and Vashi on his weekly-offs.
After working for the Bank of India (BOI) for 40 years, Bhuskute is now doing what he loves to do the most- walking.
BOI also support him in his endeavour. "I have a vanity van with three associates - Chandrakant Kulkarni, Santosh Garude and Arun Kumar, traveling with me. They trail me during my walks and the van helps me rest after my long walks. The per day rent for this van is Rs4,500 which is paid by BOI," says Bhuskute.
These walks have enriched him as a person and a human being. "Now, I know all the religious places, educational centers and industries of all the places across India. I know the problems of these places and want to do something for them," says Bhuskute.
He hopes that this rich experience will help him if he decide to enter politics and represent people someday. "I might enter politics as I want to do something for the people of our country. Today our country is divided and i want to bring them together," says Bhuskute, a follower of the teachings of Mahatma Gandhi and Swami Vivekanand.
