Payal Patil, a hearing-impaired student of Loknete and Datta Patil High School, scored 90.6 per cent in her SSC Board exams. Despite her physical and financial weakness, she has managed to score commendable marks in her exams. As told by her teachers, Payal is very good in academics and if blessed with an opportunity, she can prove her merit in many ways.
Coming from a small village called Ghotwade near Alibaug, Payal has always been a bright student. She lost her father at a very young age. Her mother has been working as a labourer to support the family since. Payal continued her primary education with the help of her uncle. When she was in sixth standard, she suffered from mumps, causing permanent deafness. Apart from academics, Payal was also active in co-curricular activities.
Payal's family is trying hard to give her the best treatment possible. Doctors have suggested a cochlear implant which will help Payal in hearing properly again. However, the cost of the implant and other expenses incurred in routine check-ups will become expensive for Payal's family.
Nilesh Patil, Payal's uncle, said, "Her dream is to become a collector so that she can bring a change in society and help the needy. We are now collecting funds for the cochlear implant, which costs Rs 6 lakh. We have collected Rs 3 lakh so far and would appreciate further help."
