Director of 'Mumbai Can Dance Saala' booked for molesting actress

A film director has been booked by the Santa Cruz police after an actress filed a complaint of molestation and assault against him. The accused, Sachendra Sharma, is the director of an upcoming film, Mumbai Can Dance Saala.

The victim, who is a friend of actress Rakhi Sawant, has alleged that she was assaulted by the director before the music launch of the film on Thursday. The incident happened in a hotel in Santa Cruz (West).

A police officer said, "The woman claimed that the director assaulted her before the event. Following this, she retorted by slapping him on stage when the event was underway." According to the police, Sharma was accused of being a casting couch and that he had deliberately deleted Sawant's song from the film.

Following the assault incident, the woman approached the police on Thursday midnight. A case has been registered under Indian Penal Code sections 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 323 (Punishment for voluntarily causing hurt). Padmakar Chavan, senior PI, said, "We have registered the case based on her allegation. We have not yet arrested the accused."
