A week after struggling in a critical condition, Dharma Patil's family has opted to donate his organs.

Patil, 84-year-old Dhule farmer, attempted suicide by consuming poison on the premises of Mantralaya on Monday evening and was immediately shifted to a nearby hospital.

Patil's family is not sure on whether his health will improve further and have opted for organ donation.

Narendra Patil, son of the farmer, said, "His condition never improved after admission. Even though he is in ICU, dialysis treatment stopped too. If he dies, his wish was to donate his organs and we want them to reach to the needy which can help other people to live a life. We have submitted the organ donation consent form to ZTCC."

Since Tuesday, Patil has been on dialysis in the ICU of JJ Hospital. As per the doctor, Patil's health is not supporting medical the treatment given to him. While is outcome of urine was less than 200 ml since the time of admission, the doctors also stated that he has a medical history, due to which his lungs and kidney are not functioning properly.

A doctor from JJ Hospital, said, "He is still unconscious and critical. He has been on ventilator support."
