Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis will be leaving for New Delhi on Saturday to meet BJP national president Amit Shah. The meeting between the two assumes significance in view of the ensuing elections for 10 municipal corporations in the state including Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC).

Shah already had a meeting with core committee members of the Fadnavis cabinet including finance minister Sudhir Mungantiwar and minister for education Vinod Tawde. Shah is believed to have reviewed the party's performance in the last two years following the campaign for enrolment. BJP state unit president Raosaheb Danve had apprised Shah of the party's progress in the state with increased membership.

Shah is likely to discuss elections to all the municipal corporations. It is also likely that Shah would discuss with an emphasis on BMC and possibility of BJP going it alone for the ensuing elections.

Fadnavis is believed to have prepared a presentation with the help of BJP Mumbai chief Ashish Shelar. The presentation advocates going it alone for the BMC elections.

Sources in the chief minister's office informed that Fadnavis would insist on BJP fighting the BMC elections on its own and repeat the Kalyan-Dombivli election results where BJP increased its tally.
