The case of rape and molestation against Mumbai Deputy Inspector General Sunil Paraskar took a different mode more mysterious on Monday after shocking claims made by the complainant model's former lawyer.

The model has accused Paraskar of sexually assault on various occasions between November 2013 and March 2014, when he was then additional commissioner of police (north region).

The former lawyer of the Mumbai model, has made startling claims, saying she admitted to him about the plot to create a controversy to participate in a television show. Model's former lawyer Rizwan Siddiqui said he quit the case as he got the feeling that the case was filed for publicity.

In a statement recorded by Mumbai Police, Rizwan Siddiqui, claimed that the model had hatched a conspiracy to harass the senior police officer. Siddiqui also submitted a CCTV footage to the cops, showing him meeting the model and discussing the case.

The 25-year-old model had lodged a complaint against Paraskar on July 23 and accused him of raping and molesting her between November 2013 and March 2014 when he was posted as the Additional Commissioner of Police (North Region) with the Mumbai police.

Few days ago, In an editorial in 'Saamna', on Saturday, the Shiv Sena extended its support to senior IPS officer Sunil Paraskar who stands accused of rape by a Mumbai-based model.  The editorial also said that it has become fashionable to level rape charges.

Meanwhile, Maharashtra State Women's Commission has written a letter to Mumbai Police Commissioner Rakesh Maria, demanding suspension of senior IPS officer Sunil Paraskar.
