In a shocking incident, five youths have been arrested for chopping off the private parts of two brothers for not giving them money to purchase alcohol.

On Thursday, Madan Sonnar and his brother Raju Sonnar, both residents of Mharol in Titwala of Thane district, were found murdered in a secluded open space in Radha Krushna Nagari, with their private parts chopped and heads smashed.

The Titwala police soon alerted the beat chowkies to conduct nakabandis in their jurisdictions. At one nakabandi, when a duo on a bike without number plate slowed down, cops noticed blood stains on the shirt of the pillion rider and stopped them. The duo was then brought to the police station. During body search, a severed penis was found from inside the pocket of one of them. On being questioned further, they revealed the gory details of the incident, following which three more of their associates were arrested. All the accused persons are in the age group of 19-20.

"We held nakabandis at various strategic locations and came across a duo on a bike without a number plate. On suspicion, we brought the duo to the police station and found a penis inside the pocket of one of the two," said investigating officer Samadhan Nagare from Titwala police station.

"They assaulted and cut off their private parts after the brothers refused to give them money to consume alcohol. All the five arrested persons are addicted to drugs and alcohol,", Nagare added.

The blood-stained shirt, a knife used in the crime and the severed organ have been recovered and the accused persons have been arrested under sections 302 (murder) and 34 (common intent) of the Indian Penal Code.
