Delhi: Man beats up estranged wife near city hotel

The Delhi police on Wednesday have registered a case after a 27-year-old woman complained of being thrashed by her estranged husband in front of a five-star hotel in the Pancharipuri area.

According to the police, the victim, who has been identified as Ritika Sethi, was beaten up by her husband Sandeep Vig (28), a resident of Shalimar Bagh, in the presence of her mother-in-law and a friend.

The couple had got married in January 2016 and but there were marital discords since the past year. "He works with his father and gets a limited amount of money to meet his expenses. He used to force the victim to get money from her home," the police said.

In May, he had asked his wife to go to her parents' house. "She was told by her in-laws that they have disowned her husband and he doesn't live there, therefore, she cannot come back," they said.
