A decomposed body of an unidentified man was found in a water tank at Marine Lines railway station on Wednesday. The Churchgate Government Railway Police (GRP) has registered a case of accidental death.
According to the GRP, the incident came to light around 3.30pm when a group of men opened the tank located on platform number 4 for cleaning.

"The body was badly decomposed. There was nothing on the body which could help us identify him. The man seems to have been in his mid-thirties. There were no external injuries on his body. However, it has been sent for post mortem. We are trying to find out the exact cause of death," said a GRP officer.

Prima facie, it appears that the body had been lying in the tank for at least four days. The GRP said that the man could probably have been a drug addict. However, this could be ascertained only after the identity of the deceased is established.
