Mumbai: Dead baby boy found near Mahim seashore

The Mahim police found the baby but it was declared dead when they brought it to the hospital.

On Monday evening, the Mahim police found a baby boy wrapped in a cloth near Mahim seaface. The police immediately rushed the baby boy to Sion Hospital, however, the baby was declared dead before admission. The baby boy was said to be two-months-old.

An officer privy to the case said, "The control received a call from an unknown lady. When the police arrived there, the baby was kept in the middle of two rocks and was still. When we took the baby to the hospital, he was declared dead."

The officer further added, "We have registered a case against unknown persons under section 318 of Indian Penal Code for concealment of birth by secret disposal of dead body."

Speaking of further investigation, the officer added, "We have searched the area for CCTV cameras, and have found one quite close to the spot. Besides this we have also interrogated a couple of people there too to make a sketch of the accused."
