Now that the roles have changed with BJP coming to power, state Congress president Manikrao Thakre on Wednesday announced that his party would launch an intense agitation if the new government did not arrest culprits behind the killing of three members of a Dalit family in Ahmednagar district.

Thakre visited Jawakhede Khalsa village in Pathardi Taluka of Ahmednagar where Sanjay Jadhav, his wife Jayashree and son Sunil were found murdered on October 21. Republican Party of India (A) president and Rajya Sabha MP Ramdas Athavale had visited the village after the incident. His visit was followed by the visit of the director of National Commission for Scheduled Castes.

Thakre met the family members of Sanjay and Jayashree Jadhav. He assured them that Congress would stand behind them and make every effort to give them justice.

Through a press release, Thakre has announced that Congress would launch an intense agitation if the culprits, who are at large, are not nabbed within eight days.

Meanwhile, governor C Vidyasagar Rao has asked director general of police Sanjeev Dayal to appoint a special task force to probe into the case. The governor has told an RPI delegation led by Athavale that the members of the Jadhav family have been given compensation of Rs3.75 lakh.
