With the aim to create awareness on wastage of food, Indo Torch Run, is a run for a cause which will be held on August 13. Mumbai's dabbawalas, who have taken up the initiative to distribute leftover food to the poor across the city, will be brand ambassadors for the cause.

Speaking about their initiative, Vitthal Sawant, one of Mumbai's dabbawalas, said, "We started with a roti bank to distribute leftover food among the poor. It has been successful and every day we get calls to collect leftover food.

Rather than throwing food, it's better to distribute it to the needy. This run will help us in creating more awareness about zero wastage of food. Around eight dabbawalas will be the brand ambassadors for this cause."

Arjuna awardees Dattu Baban Bhokanal and Sanjiva Singh will lead the run from Nariman Point to Girgaon Chowpatty. Spots like Nariman Point, Haji Ali and Worli Seaface will fall in the 35-km route.
