Since January 2017, the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) has successfully managed to get 28 persons convicted on graft charges against government servants. Of these, state revenue department officials top the charts with 12 of their officials being convicted. Nine persons from the state police department were convicted as well.

As per the court order, the ACB has collected fines worth Rs 3,25,300 from the convicts, out of which Rs 1,14,400 has been collected from the state revenue department.

"Out of the 468 cases filed this year, seven cases are of disproportionate assets. We have been directed to collect the minutest evidence against the accused involved, so that we submit it to the court for preparing a water tight case," said a senior ACB official. "Moreover, we are confident that this year we will be able to get at least 30 per cent convictions in the cases filed by us," the official added.

In 2016, the ACB managed to nail 91 persons in the court of law, while 356 persons were acquitted from charges framed by the ACB. The lowest since 2011, the ACB managed to get convictions for only 20 per cent government officials last year. With 13 per cent convictions since January, ACB aims to get 30 per cent convictions in 2017.

This year, ACB Pune has filed 106 cases so far, after which 73 cases were filed by ACB Nashik.
