According to sources, the investigation revealed that Patankar's driver was instrumental in ferrying the consignment of 110 kg of Mephedrone (M-Cat) from Mumbai to the Kanheri village residence of Kalokhe in Satara. The police have also seized Patankar's car that was reportedly used in ferrying the contraband, sources added.
"The other suspect is Patankar's relative who was an active member of the drug syndicate that she runs," a police officer said.
Several police teams have fanned the state to apprehend Patankar, who is on the run following Kalokhe's arrest.
A Mumbai police team had gone to Agra after they learnt that a bar dancer, who is the keep of Patankar's brother, was hiding there. But they returned to city on Thursday only to pick her up from Pune.
"The bar dancer was picked up from Pune. She is being questioned as Patankar had fled with her from the city following Kalokhe's arrest. Two teams are still in Sawantwadi and Alibaug to trace Patankar," the officer added.
A police team will reach Satara on Friday to seek transfer of Kalokhe's custody so that he can be placed under arrest in the case wherein 12 kg of M-Cat was seized from his locker at Marine Drive police station on March 10.
On March 9, Kalokhe was arrested after Satara police raided his residence in Kanheri village and seized the MD, popularly known as meow meow, and M-cat valued at crores of rupees in the market.
