Constable hit by Ola, suffers severe injuries

A 42-year-old police constable on night patrolling duty met with a mishap when a speeding private cab hit his bike from behind on Wednesday.

Prahlad Patil, attached with the Charkop police station, suffered severe injuries on his leg. The incident occurred at around 1.35 am when Patil, who is a beat marshall, was patrolling at Kandivli (west). The Ola cab driven by Mansoor Pinwalla, 25, at high speed, hit the police bike from behind.

“The impact was such that Patil was thrown off his bike. He suffered fracture on his right thigh and is undergoing treatment in hospital,” said a police officer from Charkop police station.

"We have arrested the accused under sections 279 (rash driving) and 338 (causing grievous hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others) of the Indian Penal Code. He has been released on bail," said the officer.
