Collegian rapes minor after promising marriage

A 21-year-old college student allegedly promised marriage to a 15-year-old schoolgirl and raped her on Sunday. He was arrested on Monday.

A 21-year-old college student allegedly promised marriage to a 15-year-old schoolgirl and raped her on Sunday. He was arrested on Monday.

“Anand Domni, a resident of Vikhroli (East) was arrested under sections 376 (rape) and 341 (wrongful restraint ) IPC,” said Satish Taware, inspector of Vikhroli police station and added that the girl was sent to Rajawadi Hospital in Ghatkopar for a medical check-up.

A class 10 student, the girl stays at her aunt’s house and has known the accused for the past few years. On Sunday, the girl was playing outside her house. Her uncle, aunt and other family members were inside.Domni called her to his house. After promising to marry her when she turns 18 years, he had intercourse with her. He let her go after threatening her not to tell anyone about the incident.Later at night, the girl narrated the incident to her aunt. The aunt took the girl to the Vikhroli police station on Monday around 1am and lodged a complaint of rape.
“Based on the complaint, the police arrested Domni,” added Taware.

The police are waiting for the girl’s medical report.
