Work together and in consultation with all, said chief minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday while addressing meetings on Kumbh Mela at Nashik and Trimbakeshwar.

Fadnavis visited Trimbakeshwar and then Nashik on Saturday morning to review works of the holy festival scheduled in August 2015. The meetings were attended by guardian minister Girish Mahajan, divisional commissioner Eknath Davale, senior officials, people's representatives, sadhu mahants and others.

At Trimbakeshwar, he said the small temple town is an important pilgrim place and importance must be given to make the river Godavari pollution-free, and at the same time, work on roads and other facilities should be hastened.

Considering that the Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years, the government intends to create permanent infrastructure for the same.

Chairing the meeting at the revenue commissionerate in Nashik, Fadnavis reiterated that the mega event should be held in cooperation and consultation with all involved and that the government will provide necessary funds for the event. He also said suggestions of the sadhu mahants regarding the festival should be respected.

The chief minister added that decentralisation of authority at the divisional and district level has been done to facilitate effective and efficient working with respect to the Mela. He appealed to the people to maintain cleanliness and hygiene, and urged NGOs to monitor the same.
