It is still uncertain if the state government will get permission to reclaim sea for its big ticket Coastal Road project on the western coast of Mumbai as Ministry of Environment and Forest has raised some doubts over real estate development.

Detailing about the project and status of the green clearance, chief minister Devendra Fadnavis said, "MoEF has raised certain doubts that will be clarified in the coming days. The doubt is over shifting of high tide line for making Coastal Road possible."

Once the high tide line is shifted, the MoEF does not want real estate development to happen on the western side of the Coastal Road. Although, the state had mentioned that no such activity will be conducted but there are doubts whether the successive governments may initiate development for the private builders.

"One more meeting will be held with MoEF officials to explain and clarify stand of the state government so that the project can move further," added Fadnavis.

dna on April 7 had reported that the state government is firm on implementing Coastal Road project between Nariman Point and Kandivali instead of a string of sea links on city's western front. But residents and environmentalists have opposed the Rs25,000 crore worth project.
