Municipal Commissioner Ajoy Mehta, at a review meeting on Tuesday, instructed all zonal deputy municipal commissioners to ensure debris and other construction material are cleared after road repairs in order to facilitate smooth traffic flow. Mehta said all material should be cleared on the same day road repair work is completed.

Presently, repairs are underway in various parts of the city, and have been segregated into priority I and priority II. Surfacing works on 110 roads under priority I will have to be completed by May 15. Of the 939 road repair works under priority II, 469 of them will also have to be completed by May. This apart, around 82 roads fall under the defect liability period, and May 15 has been fixed as the completion date.

Mehta also instructed all officials to ensure that surfacing work on all flyovers, excluding two flyovers —the Lalbaug and SCLR flyovers —will have to be completed by May 15. Work on the other two flyovers should be completed by May-end.
