Fed up with the BEST Undertaking's poor administration, a citizen's group called Aamchi Mumbai Aamchi BEST (AMAB) has decided to stage a rally from Kotwal Garden near Plaza Cinema in Dadar to Wadala bus depot on Monday at 3.30 pm.
The group includes transport activists and BEST workers who claim that they are tired of the depleting fleet, lack of punctuality in bus services and the government's overall approach in saving BEST and promoting more cars on the road.
"We have kept political parties out of this protest rally. The government and BMC are to blame for inefficiency but they are not doing anything to control the number of private cars on the road that leads to congestion which leads to BEST buses losing their punctuality," said Vidyadhar Date, transport expert and AMAB member.
"The BEST is going for privatisation by getting buses on wet-lease," said Jagnarayan Kahar of BEST Kaamgar Sanghatana.
