The society members were annoyed over the repeated barks and so they called their clean-up supervisor to pack them inside a polythene and dump them in a bin.
In a shocking incident, a posh housing society in Mira road allegedly wrapped 11 dog puppies in a polythene bag and dumped it inside a garbage bin, amidst heavy rains.
The Mira road police have booked three for animal cruelty in regard to the said incident. According to the Mira road police, the Sandstone Co-operative Housing Society (CHS) at Mira road, decided to get rid of 11 newborn puppies and thus they called up their clean-up supervisor to do the 'job'.
The clean-up supervisor has been identified as Charlie. Shefali Agarwal, a resident of the same building clicked pictures of the accused while the act of wrapping the puppies inside a polythene to be dumped was taking place.
The Mira road police have booked Ratan Das, secretary, Harkaran Ahluwalia, Chairman and Charlie under the Bombay Police Act and also under the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act.
"Upon reaching the spot and verifying the gruesome act from the pictures, we immediately lodged a formal complaint with the police," said Salim Charania, president, Peace for Animals Welfare Association (PAWA).
Shefali Agarwal, resident of the Sandstone CHS said, "Being an animal lover, upon sighting the act, I immediately clicked pictures of it and informed animal activists, as a delay would have costed the lives of 11 puppies."
A senior police officer from Mira road police station said, "The puppies were found dumped inside a garbage bin in a tightly wrapped polythene bag."
Harkaran Singh Ahluwalia, chairperson of Sandstone CHS denied commenting over the issue, but said, "Let the court decide about the incident".
