Jerrit G John, who was on the run since Wednesday after allegedly throwing a hazardous chemical at his girlfriend, was nabbed by the Nalasopara Police on Saturday. “We got a call from a hotelier, and acting on the tip-off, we nabbed him (John) on the road in front of Hotel Manthan,” said police inspector Mukund Mahajan. John's hard disk, laptop and iPhone, was seized by the Nalasopara police.

John was handed over to the Dadar police later in the day. Dhananjay Kulkarni, DCP (Zone V), said that the police would interrogate John to find out whether he intended to kill the victim or just scare her. John will be produced in court on Sunday, he added.

Shivram Shetty, manager of Hotel Manthan, confirmed that he had informed the police about John.
“He checked in the hotel at 3.30am on Friday, and said that he had missed the train and wanted a room to stay. We provided him the keys of room no 108, and took the PAN card and an identity card, which showed that he had given us the wrong address,” said Shetty.

“I read the newspapers regularly, and recognised (John's) photo. I informed the police who nabbed him around 11.30am,” he said adding that there was nothing suspicious about John's behaviour during his stay.

According to police, John, who owns the production house No Nonsense and has produced-directed television serials, flung the chemical at the 26-year-old Aryanka Hosbetkar, with whom he had a 10-month relationship, at her residence at Adarsh Colony in Worli.
