IPL players Rahul Sharma and Wayne Parnell, who tested positive for consumption of cannabis, are among those charge-sheeted by the Juhu police for allegedly consuming drugs in the Juhu sundown party raided by the police in May 2012.
The charge sheet filed on Monday shows Parnell as a wanted accused. It also names television actors Apurva Agnihotri and his wife Shilpa Agnihotri for allegedly consuming drugs.
Statements of Suraj Handa, the owner of Oakwood hotel in Juhu, his son and co-owner Vishay, Dipesh Sharma the DJ who had invited people for the party, and some managers of the hotel are included in the charge sheet. It says Sharma spread the word about the party online, among people in his contact lists. At least 120 people responded and they were at the party.
But Handa claimed these were regular parties, arranged in his hotel every Sunday, and that he was unaware about any drug trafficking.
Additional commissioner Vishwas Nangre-Patil, with more than 50 police officers, raided the Oakwood hotel in Juhu on May 20 last year and detained 90 people.
