Addressing a press conference at BJP state headquarters at Nariman Point, Javadekar said that the Centre has decided to skip the stage of Euro 5 emission standards and decided to directly implement Euro 6 emission standards.

Informing that the Union government has decided to implement Euro 6 emission standards for the vehicle manufacturing sector four years before the scheduled 2024, Union minister for environment Prakash Javadekar on Thursday informed that it would take care of the pollution in the cities and urban areas.
Addressing a press conference at BJP state headquarters at Nariman Point, Javadekar said that the Centre has decided to skip the stage of Euro 5 emission standards and decided to directly implement Euro 6 emission standards. He informed that the previous UPA government had decided to implement Euro 6 standards in 2024.
Javadekar informed that the manufacturers of all types of vehicles from two-wheelers to cars, would have to adhere to Euro 6 emission control standards. He added that those who are already manufacturing as per Euro 6 standards and exporting vehicles, would have to make necessary changes in the production assembly line as per the Indian requirements.
