The special CBI court on Friday maintained that the trial in the Sheena Bora murder case shall be initiated soon and that the matter will be expedited. The court also held that charges against the accused shall also be framed soon.

All the accused including Indrani Mukerjea were produced before the court presided over by judge H S Mahajan, and all the three have been sent to judicial custody till September 13.

Meanwhile, the CBI informed the court that it was investigating the case from all different angles, and thus, it can't give a deadline for the completion of the investigation. CBI claimed that the case was too big for it to come to a logical end any soon. "The agency for would like to inform the court to initiate with the trail, rather on the next date the agency would file draft charges against the accused," said CBI counsel Bharat Badami.

Mihir Gheewala, the advocate appearing on behalf of Peter Mukerjea filed an application on the media trial. "Airing of such conversations on air have the potential to prejudice the prosecution witness and have violated the sanctity of the judicial process and are contemptuous of it. Such prejudice will only impede the right of the accused to have a fair and impartial trial before the court and also hamper the judicial process," reads the application.

The application further reads: "Not only the conversations were aired, but the tv anchor and the panelist in the discussion openly passed judgment on the accused by holding him participant to the murder and person deserving conviction."

Gheewala pleaded from the court to give directions to the CBI to take necessary steps to ensure that no evidence, witnesses statement and documents are used by any media house, without the appropriate permission of the court.

The court thus asked the defence and the prosecution to take care of their respective evidence.
