Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation employee dies while clearing trees after being hit by stone

A 55-year old man working with a private company that was employed by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) on a contractual basis, died on Friday after a stone fell on him while he was clearing trees that had fallen on few huts at Saki Naka. The deceased has been identified only as Ganpat.

According to the Saki Naka police, at around 2:10 am, a tree had fallen from the hilltop on a few huts at Mohammad Konkani Chawl, near Sulemania Masjid in Saki Naka. While Ganpat, who works for Aakash Engineering, was clearing the tree, a stone fell on him from the hilltop. Ganpat sustained head injuries and was rushed to Rajawadi Hospital, where he was declared dead by doctors at around 6:25 am.

In another incident, four persons were left injured after a compound wall of a building fell on them at Bhoiwada on Friday. According to the Bhoiwada police, the compound wall of a building at Parmar Guruji Marg in Parel fell at around 11:30 am. The injured have been identified as Anant Keluskar, 48, Ravindra Gaikwad, 45, Rafiq Taliq, 42 and Ravi Shirsat, 38.
