Body of woman chopped into 13 parts found in Panvel

The body of an unidentified woman, chopped beyond recognition into 13 parts, was found in Panvel on Wednesday evening. The body parts were found stuffed in three blue colour plastic bags left in a garden behind Simaran Motors in Bada Khanda colony road in Panvel.

Prakash Nilewad, ACP Panvel said the chopped body was noticed by a garage worker, who then informed the police. "The garage informed us at around 4 pm about the body he noticed behind Simran Motors along the road leading to Motha Khanda Colony. The body was packed in three blue colour bags," said Nilewad.

A police team reached the spot with dog squads and recovered the body. "The body was chopped in 13 pieces beyond recognition. Her hands, legs and head were severed. However, she looked like she was in her 30s," said another officer from Panvel police station.

The body has been sent for a postmortem to ascertain when the victim was killed.

The police have registered a case of murder and have begun investigations. "We have informed all the police stations nearby to check missing person's complaints. We have given them a description of the woman," said the official.

Meanwhile, the police have also found a body of a man in Adai in Panvel. "The body of a male aged around 25 years, with multiple burnt injuries, has been found," said another officer of Panvel police station. "We have registered an accidental death report. However, we are checking whether there is any connection to the two cases. There is a possibility that both cases may be related. However, things will be clearer after investigation," added the officer.
