In order to keep civic officials informed about the Development Plan (DP) 2034, the building proposal (BP) department of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to hold a workshop for them. It will include a reading of the DP, a test and an interactive session.

Since DP 2034, a master plan for Mumbai's development for the next two decades, has been sanctioned, the civic officials will have to be ready for its implementation.

A senior official from the BP department said that it will take at least a month to implement the DP and by then officials from the department need to have an understanding of it. "We do not want civic officials to be in a difficult situation once the DP is implemented," he said.

The workshop, which is likely to be held at BMC's Kandivali office, will be attended by officials ranging from sub-engineer to senior officers. "We will ask them to read the DP 2034 and try to find changes from 1991 plan and other intricacies," said the official.

After that, there will a test on their understanding of the plan. "The test will give us an idea about the staff's understanding and accordingly we will plan the workshop," he said.

Changes in the present DP from 1991 plan and reservation of plots and other areas are likely to prove difficult for officials. "Even BP officials are studying the sanctioned DP as many changes have been made by the state government," he said.

866 CLEARED

  • The BMC had suggested a 2,711 proposals in the present plan, and the state sanctioned 866 of them, putting 2018 on hold for objections and suggestions after making changes to them.
