In a major setback for Raj Thackeray-led Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS), the six out of seven corporators in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) who defected from the party in October last year has joined Shiv Sena, officially. BMC Mayor Vishwanath Mahadeshwar read the decision of Konkan Commissioner during the general body meeting of BMC late on Thursday night.

Dr Jagdish Patil, Konkan Commissioner gave his decision on January 25 after hearing both parties--Shiv Sena and MNS. “Legally, the Konkan Commissioner did not find anything wrong in joining of six corporators to Shiv Sena,” said Mayor Mhadeshwar while reading the decision.

MNS had lodged a complaint before the Konkan Commissioner after its six corporators defected from the party and joined the Shiv Sena.
