A 27-year-old woman was found murdered inside Sanjay Gandhi National Park (SGNP) in Borivli East on Thursday morning.

The deceased, Sarla Ahire, had left for work on Wednesday around 9am but did not reach office.

She lived with her mother and sister in Goregaon’s Teen Dongri area and worked in an imitation jewelry-making company.

A soured relationship could be the motive for the murder, the police believe.

“When Ahire’s sister came to know that she hadn’t reported to work, after looking for her, the family filed a missing person’s complaint with the police,” said a police officer from the Kasturba Marg police.

Later, her body was found at Trimurti village inside the national park. Her throat was slit twice and her handbag was missing, while her jewellery was intact.

Her body was sent for an autopsy. “We are probing whether she was offered a spiked drink before being killed. She was found blinfolded, with her hands bound behind her back,” said an officer.

Further investigations are on.
