Since there was no official word from BJP's Central leadership on fate of revenue minister Eknath Khadse, the state leaders chose to maintain that party and government stands firmly behind Khadse. Chief minister Devendra Fadnavis refused to speak to media on Khadse issue. It seems that there is sigh of relief for Khadse at least for now.

It was at the BJP state unit office at Nariman Point that senior ministers, including Fadnavis, Sudhir Mungantiwar, Chandrakant Patil, Prakash Mehta and Nitin Gadkari attended the programme to observe 2nd death anniversary of Late Gopinath Munde, former union minister. Fadnavis arrived after Gadkari left the party office.

Minister for finance Sudhir Mungantiwar, replying to a reporter, said that why should Khadse shy away from inquiry? He said that neither Khadse nor any of the ministers have done it and Khadse is a seasoned leader and would never shy away from any inquiry.

Despite the fact that Khadse has been under fire and was cornered from all sides, it seems that the action against him would be visible only during the ensuing long-awaited Cabinet reshuffle. Sources informed dna that the Central party leadership as well as prime minister Narendra Modi were not in favour of immediate action against Khadse.

It is likely that BJP national president Amit Shah would ask Gadkari to summon Khadse and listen to his side after which party could take any decision. Khadse did not speak to mediapersons.
