Bhojpuri singer's wife commits suicide in Amboli

The 21-year-old wife of popular Bhojpuri singer Pawan Singh allegedly committed suicide at her Amboli residence Sunday morning. The police have not found any suicide note from the spot and are investigating the case.

According to the police, Priyakumari Singh had got married with Pawan three months ago. The couple were staying in a flat at Evershine Park near Country Club in Oshiwara. On Saturday night, Pawan had gone to visit a neighbour in a nearby building and Priyakumari was at home with her sister and her husband.

"Around 3.30am, Priyakumari committed suicide by hanging herself from a fan using a dupatta. On hearing a loud noise, Priyakumari's sister rushed to bedroom and found her hanging. She then informed Pawan over phone about the incident. Pawan came home and rushed his wife to Cooper Hospital where she was declared dead," said an officer from Amboli police station.

The hospital authorities informed the police about the incident. The Amboli police then began their investigations. The police have recorded statements of Pawan, Priyakumari's sister and her husband.

Priyakumari's sister has reportedly told the police that her sister was depressed since Pawan was busy with his work and could not give her enough time. But since Priyakumari has not left behind any suicide note, the police are yet to ascertain the cause of her suicide.

The police are expecting post-mortem report by late Sunday evening and have registered an accidental death case in the matter.
