Sources within the government said that the BEST employees leader was in touch with Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis and took many a steps during the strike as per the orders from the 'invisible hand' in the government. Rao's allegation that it was the Shiv Sena President, Uddhav Thackeray who told the Chief Minister not to intervene in the strike, speaks volumes.
On Monday the CM spoke with Thackeray over phone to discuss the strike. Sources said both, Fadnavis and Thackeray spoke in detail and discussed possible solutions to the strike. It is interesting to note that officials from the Chief Minister's Office said that Fadnavis was constantly in touch with Thackeray.
And yet, it was decided that a final call will only be taken after the High Court order since both Sena and BJP feared that it would result in a war of claiming credit for calling off the strike. In any case, the BJP and Fadnavis seem to have succeeded in scoring over Sena.
