A 31-year-old banker has lodged a complaint of rape against her colleague with VB Nagar police station alleging that the accused made video recording of their intimacy and threatened her. The woman is married and was having an extra marital affair.

According to police sources, the woman, a Byculla resident, works in a Kurla-based bank. The 33-year-old suspect, who also works in the same bank, is a resident of Chembur.

"As per the complaint, the woman and the suspect were in an affair. He took her to various places in the city and got physical close. Recently, when the victim started distancing herself from the suspect, the latter claimed to have recorded their intimate act and threatened to show it to their other colleagues and upload it on the internet," said an officer from VB Nagar police station, requesting anonymity.

The frightened woman then lodged a complaint with the police last week. The police have registered a case under section 376 (2) (b) (being a public servant, takes advantage of his official position and commits rape on a woman in his custody as such public servant or in the custody of a public servant subordinate to him) and sections 66E (Whoever, intentionally or knowingly captures, publishes or transmits the image of a private area of any person without his or her consent, under circumstances violating the privacy of that person) and 67 (publishing or transmitting obscene material in electronic form) of the Information Technology Act.
