Ballard Estate Fest to kick start with new edition on Oct 29

An entry fee may be levied to attend the concerts and other events, but the larger festival will be without any fee.

Ballard Estate Festival will kick off on October 29, wherein Mumbaikars will get to entertain themselves with concerts, music shows, events, etc. on every weekend till May 2017.

"In 2015, Ballard Estate Festival was held on a smaller scale, but this year, we plan to make it much bigger, in which Mumbaikars will get to attend events every weekend. Bollywood celebrities and singers will also participate in it," said Sanjay Bhatia, chairman of Mumbai Port Trust (MbPT).

An entry fee may be levied to attend the concerts and other events, but the larger festival will be without any fee.

"On the last weekend of every month, we will be having a signature weekend of Ballard Estate Festival while other weekends will be based on various themes. We will be introducing new elements in the new edition this year. Ballard Estate Festival will be opening up a new neighbourhood in Mumbai to celebrate what Mumbai stands for," said Shubhra Bhardwaj, founder of Ferriswheel Entertainment.

Few of the new elements include pet-friendly zone, walk of kindness – volunteers from different NGOs will be standing and people can donate as per their wish to the needy.

"To encourage travelling, in the first weekend of December, we will be having a world fest. We are bringing in groups from 20 performing countries so that people of Mumbai can experience the whole world in the fest. It is a travel related event, which will include world travel bloggers, travel stories, travel enthusiasts coming in to speak about their experiences," added Bhardwaj.

The festival has been timed with arrival of a passenger cruise liner – 'Genting Dream', which is among the biggest cruise liner ships of the world in terms of passenger capacity. This ship is the first in the last couple of decades to give a port of call in Mumbai. From Mumbai, it will sail to Colombo, Singapore, Hong Kong, Guangzhou, Ho Chi Minh City and Hainan.
