The annual sports day of Anjuman-I-Islam's AA Khatkhatay English Secondary School was held last month where students of classes V and VI took part in different events. The opening ceremony saw a number guests coming for the event.
The ceremony started with the recital of verses from the holy Quran followed by its translation. The principal of the school officially declared the sport meet open and the chief guest freed the pigeon symbolising peace and harmony. The sports torch was carried by the head boy of the school and passed on to the captains of the four houses. Then there was a drill display that kept the spectators spellbound.
The games which were part of the event included marble and spoon race, potato race, sack race, shot-put, long jump and shuttle relays where participants exhibited tremendous amount of zeal and courage to fight to the finish amid cheers from their parents and teachers.
The other events such as dumbbells display, lezim, pyramid, fusion dance and so on added charm to the occasion.
