Ambernath friends held for selling alcohol illegally

They were arrested with alcohol worth Rs1.46 lakh and booked under relevant sections. The accused have been identified as Rajendra Kajibhai Thakkar, 53, and Bhausahen Radhaji Kshirsagar alias Raja, who is in his 40s.

Two men have been arrested for selling alcohol illegally in Ulhasnagar on February 20 between 3.30pm and 3.45pm. They were arrested from near Haji Malang road. The were produced in local court and are being interrogated.

They were arrested with alcohol worth Rs1.46 lakh and booked under relevant sections. The accused have been identified as Rajendra Kajibhai Thakkar, 53, and Bhausahen Radhaji Kshirsagar alias Raja, who is in his 40s.

Both are residents of Ambernath and are friends.

According to the police, the duo had been running the business since few weeks. When the local police got a tip-off, they raided the spot. Cops have seized Kingfisher beer worth Rs45,696, Imperial Blue Whiskey and Bagpiper Whiskey collectively worth Rs1,00,304.

"They had alcohol bottles inside a secret cavity. When the police reached, they did not reveal anything. But when the investigation started, cops learnt about the secret cavity and found alcohols bottles kept inside. Before they could run, cops arrested them," said an official.

He added, "We are investigating to find out if they are involved in other illegal business."
