The city crime branch sleuths on Wednesday arrested a 22-year-old Air India cabin crew member for allegedly raping a 21-year-old event management graduate by giving false assurances of marrying her. Raj Patel, a resident of Borivli (W), works on a contractual basis with Air India as a cabin crew member. The two met regularly and decided to get married. “On the pretext of marrying her, Patel had a physical relationship with her. When she got pregnant, Patel forced her to undergo an abortion,” said inspector Chimaji Aadhav. He added that after the abortion, Patel allegedly refused to marry the woman.
