About 200 people took to the streets in Mumbra on Tuesday and staged a protest against the bad condition of two residential buildings in Kausa village. Activists said they were tired of repeatedly asking top state authorities to direct the developer to repair the buildings. They also said that if the issue is neglected, it will be a repeat of what happened in Mumbra and Mahim this year.

Activist Abdul Malik Chaudhary said, “The society in question, Global Park, consists of nine buildings.

Two of these are in bad shape.

“We addressed letters to state’s top bureaucrats, but in vain. We had also approached the Thane Municipal Corporation (TMC) asking it to examine the buildings, but no one took up the issue seriously. Hence, we decided to stage a protest against the TMC’s apathetic attitude towards the residents,” he added.
