Anti-superstition activist Shyam Manav has called upon the people to root out superstition and other related practices from the country.

Appreciating the Anti-Superstition and Black Magic Bill passed in 2013 by the Maharashtra Assembly, he said his effort is always to make people aware about the need to discourage any superstitious practices.

Addressing a gathering here yesterday as a part of his statewide tour for creating awareness about the new Act against superstition and its provisions, he asked the people not to believe in claims of miracles made by some people.

"I am not not against any religion or saints, I am only against those who loot the people in the name of miracles," he said.

The Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013 criminalises practices related to black magic, human sacrifices, use of magic remedies to cure ailments and other such acts which exploit people's superstitions.
