The chief executive officer (CEO), LR Bhosale of the Aarey Milk Colony was arrested by the anti corruption bureau (ACB) on Thursday while taking Rs1lakh as bribe from a private contractor.

According to ACB officials, Bhosale had demanded Rs5 lakh as a bribe from the complainant in connection with a management contract of the Aarey Milk Colony which is given out to the private contractors.

“The tender for management of the colony is given to a private contractor every two years. After that the contractor is then in charge of the management and maintenance of the restaurants, gardens, boat rides on the lake and film shootings which happen at the Aarey milk colony,” said an ACB official.

“The complainant claims that the tender was given nearly two months ago but before completing the necessary formalities Bhosale demanded Rs5 lakh from him,” said Niket Kaushik, an additional commissioner, ACB.

“He had paid Rs4 lakh to Bhosale a month ago and the rest was assured to be given soon. The complainant approached to the ACB as he was afraid that Bhosale would demand more money,” said ACB officials. Following on complaint, ACB official laid a trap at Bhosale’s office in Aarey Milk Colony and arrested him while taking Rs1 lakh bribe.

“The case was registered against Bhosale under section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act. We will also check his past records,” said an ACB officer.
