Aaditya Thackeray, leader of Shiv Sena's youth wing Yuva Sena, met minister for higher and technical education Vinod Tawde on Saturday with suggestions to improve the education environment. He wrote a letter in which he pushed for clean canteens, bathrooms, provision of gymkhanas, surprise checks of various departments, hot lines to address students' issues and so on in city colleges.

While mentioning the hot line, he proposed an email address, a phone number or a Whatsapp-like platform for students to relate their grievances.

The letter stated that a lot of students face a bunch of problems during the Mumbai University examinations. Sometimes, dates of two papers clash and are changed at the last moment, and issues with revaluation of marks.

He also suggested bringing the lessons on self-defence for women. Aaditya later tweeted that he met with the education minister with some suggestions to smoothen out students' issues. "The suggestions were accepted in a positive way, fruitful discussion on education reforms, grievance redressal,"

Minister Vinod Tawde said, "The suggestions are not academic, but more administrative in nature. We will look into them."
